Salary: From £65,000 depending on skills and experience plus executive benefits
What you'll be doing:
- Providing technical and business leadership, guiding engineering teams and ensuring solutions meet programme, business, and customer requirements
- Presenting technical proposals, including white papers and business cases, while supporting radar-related bidding activities
- Conducting radar system modelling, detailed planning, and cost-benefit analysis to optimise system effectiveness and align with programme goals
- Collaborating with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams while mentoring engineers and advancing engineering capabilities
- Promoting innovative technologies across programmes, shaping strategy and policy within the Integrated Business Plan (IBP)
- Evaluating and adapting supplier technologies for integration into next-generation radar systems through site visits and assessments
Your skills and experiences:
- Proven experience in radar system development with practical knowledge of technologies, requirements management (eg, IBM DOORS), and configuration management and a practical understanding of the full product lifecycle, delivering solutions with independence and technical integrity
- Expert understanding of systems engineering principles, including ISO 15288, systems thinking, and holistic approaches to complex problems
- Strong leadership in large-scale complex system designs, with knowledge of engineering lifecycles and tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience presenting technical and non-technical information to stakeholders
- Chartered Engineer status or significant experience to progress towards it, with a bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline and proven experience

The Radar Engineering team:
BAE Systems Radar Business is advancing the next generation of radar technologies and products. We are seeking a System Architect to lead the definition and alignment of these activities, working closely with product Design Authorities and technical experts. This senior role focuses on solving complex engineering challenges, integrating solutions across disciplines, and collaborating with world-leading technology suppliers.
You will play a key role in shaping the future of cutting-edge radar systems.
